Friends of Port Maria, Inc. New York Chapter

We are a non-profit organization. Our mission is to assist in the overall development of Port Maria, St. Mary, Jamaica and its surrounding communities to improve the quality of life of all people.

Our Beliefs

We believe in a Jamaica where every parent and child should have access to all resources. We invest in education and social development in order to empower the next generation. We do that by assisting in supporting existing educational programs and providing necessary resources within Port Maria.

Accomplishments in 2021-2022

The Medical Mission in August of 2022, the team gathered items that served 300+ persons from several local communities; The Mission is being coordinated by Dr. Dawn Silvera-Ndure;

Aug 2021

Christmas 2021, FoPM partnered with community residents in Port Maria and distributed more than 50 holiday baskets to very needy families

Dec 2021

Sponsored the Top Girl and Boy at the Port Maria Primary’s School Leaving Ceremony with a donation of $55,000 (Ja.) each; also awarded $22,000 each, to the runner-up girl and boy.

Sept 2021

Partnered with UJAA and purchased 6 computers and 18 tablets for distribution to 5  schools in and around Port Maria, St. Mary, and they were distributed to the principals in March 2021. Schools were Port Maria, Trinity, and Jackson Primary, Port Maria Infant, and Mason Hall Primary/Infant.
